Door to Door!

Friday, May 11, 2012

All the way back in February I read an article in the Californian about a Canadian game show called Door to Door that would be filming in March in our little town asking locals questions about the beautiful city we live in. They were asking people to write in and say why you should be on the show. With that said, I felt I had to write in. My big selling point was that I am 28 and have lived here for 28 years. Why wouldn't I be perfect for the show?
Well March came and went and I didnt think twice about it. So on Wednesday after I picked Elle up from school we headed home. We were in our usual after school mode just hanging out having a snack and relaxing when the door bell rang, I looked through the peep hole and couldnt believe my eyes. It was 4 people  2 holding big cameras, one guy with a huge mike and another guy holding cards. I was so shocked I hesitated opening the door until one guy said he saw my shadow through the peep hole. haha So I answered to a big surprise and they came in my living room and started setting up for me to be on the game show Door to Door!

Here are Danny and Matt the cameramen.  These Canadians have me almost convinced we should move there if everyone is as nice as them!  It took about 15 minutes for them to set up and like i said I had no idea they were coming. The girls were so excited. They got to play directors as the host Jason asked me questions about Temecula.
It was so much fun! They were here for about an hour and half and as it turns out they came to the house when I was gone picking up Elle. I am so glad they came back to check if I was home and so were they. They only went to my house and one other to set up and play the game. I have always wanted to be on a game show even a Canadian one. Hopefully we will be able to watch it somehow. The girls really want to see themselves on TV.
How often do you have a camera crew in your living room?

Here is Jason leaving my house after we played the game. What a great town I live in.

San Diego Zoo Safari Park

Monday, April 2, 2012

The Butterflies only come to the San Diego Zoo Safari Park formerly known as the Wild Animal Park (i am unclear on the name change, its actually confusing.) only once a year for 3 weeks. We have gone as a family the last 5 years and are amazed by the beauty every year. This year we went with my Aunt and Uncle.

We couldn't wait to get inside the enclosure.
This is my Aunts shirt and the butterflies loved it and the hat she was wearing. She had at least 1 and up to 3 butterflies on her the entire time we were in there.
Ruby was sad they werent landing on her too. Maybe next year Ruby.
But they did enjoy landing on her sister. This was a first for Elle and she was so excited!
one landed on my hand I was lucky enough to be able to snap this beautiful picture before it fluttered away.
There were so many butterflies fluttering around.
this last one is my favorite. I love the tiger stripes and the contrast on the green stripped leaves. Just beautiful.
This baby gorilla loved looking at himself in the mirror and imitating his father. It was amazing watching this little guy.
Any baby is adorable even a baby River Hog. Spring was definitely in the air.

St. Patrick's Day

Sunday, March 18, 2012

With the rain ruining our plans to camp at the beach to celebrate St. Patrick's Day and my husbands birthday we decided to stay home with our friends Derrick and Hilary.

Hilary who is an amazing self taught chef and baker treated us to Corn Beef and Cabbage which is a traditional Irish dinner.  It was a first in our house and I can tell you that it tastes better then it sounds and is quite delicious.
She also made the best themed cupcakes too.
Look at the inside...She is such a showoff!
Ruby didnt care what they looked like as long as she could stuff her face with it.
Apparently its not St. Patrick's day unless you have a Patty Bomb with a Leprechaun. (By the way it was gross!)
What a fun rainy St. Patrick's Day. Nothing beats a good dinner, games, movies and good friends.
P.S. the dog officially doesn't like to wear hats.

Tour de Murrieta

Saturday, March 10, 2012

This was the 7th annual tour de Murrieta it consists of  "Nine categories provided time trials, grand prix and circuit racing for amateurs, professionals, children and two “Masters” groupings for riders more than 35 years old."

This was the womens race. It is fun to watch them go by. Up next the kids race.
Derrick and Hilary came out to watch and cheer on Elle and Ruby.
#290  and #291 were so excited to start.
Watching the races. Patiently waiting for their turn on the course.
Nearly 200 kids came out to race. This is the 3-6 year olds that competed in the 50 yard dash. It was so cute watching all the little ones go by. I spy with my little green eye...Ruby. Can you spot her?
Go Ruby, if you ask she will say she won the race. I think she came in about 50.  Looking at this now I think I should have been fixing her helmet instead of taking a picture! Good thing it was crowded she couldn't go very fast.
Here is Elle crossing the finish line. She was old enough to do the 1 mile race.
Elle, Ruby and friend showing off their medals.
Grandma and Grandpa came out to watch the girls race too.
Wow, what a day. And to cap it off we went to our friends new house to cool down. They are now proud owners of the best pool ever. What an awesome slide!
Ruby thinks the rest of the pool is pretty awesome too. The pool in March was a great way to end a fun Saturday.

Dog park and Rod Run.

Ruby and I took Otis to the new Dog Park on Friday. We met up with our friends and dog friends Roxy and Boston.

I love how Otis is flying he was so excited to be here.
Here's the troop. Roxy, Boston and Otis bringing up the rear.
The dogs ran hard on this beautiful March afternoon til they couldn't take it anymore.
He doesn't seem bummed to be here. What a fun doggy afternoon.
After Dan and Elle came home we went to the Rod Run. A popular event in its 14th year that shows off cars pre 1974. On average 50,000 people come for this 3 day event. It was our first time taking the girls.
Friday night was the cruise night. It was fun seeing all the cars going up and down Front Street.
Old fashion traffic jam.
Nothing beats In-N-Out after a fun Friday out.

Happiest Place on Earth

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

The girls and I are huge Disneyland fans. It isn't always about riding rides. We love walking down main street and taking the time to really enjoy the scenery.  Being season pass holders we try to go at least a couple of times a month. Yesterday was a beautiful day with spring right around the corner it felt like every flower was in bloom. How does Disney do it?
On this particular trip my dad went with us. The girls were excited to have their Grandpa along for the excitement.
This was the second time of the day we rode Thunder Mountain. I think this might be Rubys favorite ride and she refuses to hold on while going on it.
Growing up my family and I went to Disneyland a lot and a trip was not complete unless we watched Captain EO. I was so excited when they brought this trip down memory lane back.

Ruby actually has her hands on the wheel. Trust me it was a rare occurrence.
some random disney door that made for a good back drop.
Great trip and of course we will be back...
